The Code
The Kinfolk
Standard.
Not rules. A standard. Seven things we try to live by — and the reason our shirts say what they say. Every line on every piece we make is a different expression of the same worldview.

01
Give homage when homage is due.
Respect what came before you. Somebody built the gym, shaped the board, held the door, taught the technique, took the hit, did the work in a room nobody was watching. Know whose shoulders you're standing on and say so out loud.
Respect what came before you -
02
Leave it better.
Places. People. Situations. All three. The beach you sat on, the conversation you walked into, the person who came to you tired. It doesn't have to be a project. It has to be a habit.
Places. People. Situations. -
03
Nobody eats alone.
Make room at the table. Notice the person standing at the edge of the room and go get them. There's always another chair — and if there isn't, pull one over.
There's always room at the table -
04
Protect your people.
And remember that "your people" can be anyone. Blood is one way to be kin. It is not the only one, and it's rarely the deciding one. Kin is bigger than blood.
Kin is bigger than blood -
05
The standard is self-set.
Do the right thing without needing an audience. Nobody is checking, nobody is scoring it, and there's no version of this where you get credit. That's exactly what makes it a standard instead of a performance.
No audience required -
06
If not me, then who.
Responsibility starts somewhere. The trash on the trail, the friend who's gone quiet, the thing everybody agrees somebody ought to do. Be the somebody. It costs less than you think.
Responsibility starts somewhere -
07
Stay curious. Keep moving.
Difference isn't danger. Different streets, different oceans, different lives — same humanity. Go where you haven't been, talk to people you don't already agree with, and keep moving. From the street to the beach and everywhere in between.
The world is your neighborhood
Why it matters
Character is the subject. Everything else is where it shows up.
Surfing, fighting, lifting, travel, art, parenthood and community are simply places where character gets expressed. That's why Kinfolk Standard isn't surfwear, or fight apparel, or streetwear, or outdoor gear — even though it touches all of it.
It's a clothing brand about how people should treat each other.
Hold the standard
A kinder human race starts with the next person you meet.
